For parents & carers

I recognise the importance of working with the Parents needs and emotions too

In the 11 years that I’ve been working with Children and Young People, the continuous feeling was that at some point, I hope to be able to work with the Parents too, individually as well as collaboratively with their families.

I recognise the importance of working with the Parents needs and emotions too, as much as the whole family and am really excited to announce that I have found the most beautiful space to do this, in Painswick.

I offer face to face and online sessions to work through all the emotions that it holds to be a parent.

A space for you, too

Parenting isn’t always intuitive and when your child is struggling, it can bring up all kinds of emotions in you. Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, unsure how to help, or caught in patterns that aren’t working, therapy offers a space to reflect, regroup, and feel more confident in your role.

You’re not just here to support your child, this space is for you to be supported, too.

What to expect

  • Individual parent sessions – Space to explore your own emotions, concerns, or parenting challenges in a calm and non-judgemental setting.
  • Joint parent sessions – For co-parents navigating conflict, resentment, or differences in parenting style. We can also work on clearer communication, sharing the emotional load, and creating a more balanced family dynamic.
  • Sessions for mothers – Focused time to talk about things like returning to work, mum guilt, changing identity, or the emotional impact of children growing older or leaving home.
  • Parent and child – Sessions focused on communication, connection, and strengthening the parent-child relationship.

Common focus areas

  • Understanding your child’s behaviour and emotional needs
  • Managing your own emotional reactions, stress, or burnout
  • Navigating differences in parenting styles and reducing conflict between co-parents
  • Rebuilding trust or connection in your relationship with your child
  • Exploring your own parenting identity, especially during times of transition, such as returning to work or children becoming more independent
  • Making sense of feelings like guilt, resentment, or being emotionally stretched
  • Creating more balance in family roles and sharing the emotional load

Structure & duration

How: Face to face or Online

Support is typically arranged in four-week cycles, especially when there are 2 parents together or parent and child therapy. You can also access parent sessions independently, without your child.

Typical next steps

  • Book in a free 15-minute initial call – to check if I am the right therapist for you.
  • If you want to proceed, book in a consultation to share what’s going on at home and how you’d like to feel more supported.
  • Four-week block – Focused sessions for you, with flexible options based on your needs.
  • Ongoing reflection – We’ll regularly check in to ensure the support continues to feel relevant and effective.
